APPLICATION

The unit of competency is applied by individuals who create or modify the content of web pages.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element.

1.    Develop basic HTML and CSS code

1.1.      Establish the attributes of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, PHP and ASP

1.2.      Use a HTML editor to change content on a web page

1.3.      Apply CSS to change the styling of a web page

2.    Add content to web pages

2.1.      Insert and format text content

2.2.      Insert graphics and images.

2.3.      Insert audio, video and interactivity using JavaScript

2.4.      Insert simple forms, data tables, Opt-in boxes for auto-responders

3.    Determine web hosting issues

3.1.      Establish options for hosting a web account

3.2.      Demonstrate the use of cPanel

3.3.      Register a domain name and set up the DNS name servers

3.4.      Deploy a website

3.5.      Create a WordPress blog

3.6.      Transfer website content with FTP

PERFORMANCE EVIDENCE

To achieve competency in this unit a person must satisfy the requirements of the elements and performance criteria included in the unit. The person must also:

• Create a website with at least three different applicable features for a selected development environment
• Create and maintain files and upload them to required locations and servers

ASSESSMENT CONDITIONS

All assessment must be completed in accordance with work health and safety standards

Assessor Requirements:

•  hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and
•  be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and
•  be able demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence
