Module 21: PC Hardware and Troubleshooting

 

Nominal duration: 2 weeks (16 hours total time commitment)

 

This time commitment includes the preparation reading, attendance at each webinar (1 hour plus 15-30 minutes for discussion), and the time necessary to complete the assignments and further study

The key objective of this module is to give students the skills for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing PCs.

(b)    Motherboards and buses

(c)    BIOS/UEFI

(d)    Memory

(e)    Multimedia devices

(f)     I/O interfaces

(g)    Power supplies

Demonstrate the ability to design, upgrade, diagnose and maintain systems

2.1 Examine and discuss company strategies for PC procurement, roll-out and auto-restoration

 

2.2 Examine and discuss the building and upgrading of PCs

 

2.3 Describe a corporate approach to diagnosing, testing and maintaining PCs

 


Delivery mode

A combination of asynchronous and synchronous e-learning delivery comprising a judicious mix of interactive online web conferencing, simulation (virtual labs) software, remote online labs, online videos, PowerPoint slides, notes, reading and study materials (in PDF, HTML and Word format) accessed through the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS).
