Application
This unit covers the management of single incident faults on electrical network plant to ensure prompt restoration of supply to affected customers. Electrical network plant includes feeders, transformers and busbars from transmission to distribution voltages. The unit includes single incident faults ranging from simple (involving a single item and no loss of supply) to complex (involving multiple substations with extensive loss of supply). The unit also encompasses liaison with operating authorities and dispatching and managing field crews, as well as the monitoring of safe access to the network. The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace subject to regulations for undertaking of electrical work. Other conditions may apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licencing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this unit.
